Director of Bands
A proud graduate of Texas Christian University (‘15), Mr. Adams began his journey with Fort Worth in 2015 dutifully serving the South Hills High School pyramid as its percussion specialist, teaching beginners all the way through high school. During his tenure at this position, he has assisted with all major competition bands, including leading the Scorpion Marching band to its first “1” Division rating in school history. With his assistance, the program has also demonstrated a strong success of improved ratings in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading process, with the South Hills Honor Band receiving a “First Division” rating and runner-up awards in the HS category of the Fort Worth ISD C&SR contest. In addition, with his assistance, his ensembles have received multiple “Best in Class” awards all across the DFW metroplex.
Assistant Band Director
Mr. Alarcon is entering his 5th year as a band director and 1st at South Hills High School. He was previously the Head Band Director at Rusk Middle School in Dallas ISD where he taught the beginner percussion and brass classes, as well as directed the Varsity, Non-Varsity, and Beginner bands. Mr. Alarcon has a strong track record of success, high ratings, and steady growth within his concert ensembles. He also coached football, baseball, and soccer.
Mr. Alarcon earned his Bachelor of Music Education at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. During his time at Northwestern State he performed with the Spirit of Northwestern Demon Marching Band, Purple Haze Pep Band, NSU Wind Ensemble, Magale Concert Band, and with the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra.
In 2014 and 2015, he marched contra for Louisiana Stars Drum & Bugle Corps in its inaugural year and Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps. In 2015, Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps placed 6th in the DCI World Championship World Class Finals in Indianapolis, IN.
Mr. Alarcon gave back to the activity and joined the Southwind Drum & Bugle Corps brass staff for the summers of 2017 & 2018. Southwind performed on the biggest night of the summer at Drum Corps International Open Class Finals where they placed in the top 12 both summers.
He currently is the principal Tubist with the New Texas Symphony Orchestra in Dallas, TX.
Mr. Alarcon is married to his wife Kirstyn, a percussionist, and together they have two spoiled poodle puppies. When time is available, Mr. Alarcon enjoys spending time with his family, biking, woodworking, photography, videography, and smoking meats!
